A February hike out to Ka’ena Point a few years ago included the “discovery” (first time he was seen in the main Hawaiian islands) of this beautiful juvenile seal, with a cookie cutter shark bite on his face. He was only seen one or two more unconfirmed times that week, but our volunteers on Kauai identified him as one of their resident seals a few years ago.

Mahalo, Pelin… it was a lot of fun to find out he’s a regular on Kauai these days. We never saw him again after that week on Oahu. 🤙🏼💙🦭
