A place to discussion nature on Farcaster

A February hike out to Ka’ena Point a few years ago included the “discovery” (first time he was seen in the main Hawaiian islands) of this beautiful juvenile seal, with a cookie cutter shark bite on his face.

He was only seen one or two more unconfirmed times that week, but our volunteers on Kauai identified him as one of their resident seals a few years ago.

He is a beautiful seal and it was great to find out they regularly see him on Kauai. His face healed up but it leaves a distinctive scar that makes him easy to ID.
