The crypto bubble keeps circle jerking about how mass adoption is just around the corner, completely ignoring that this bold experiment started a _decade_ ago. The only real "adoption" we've seen so far is people getting rugged, phished, or scammed (& stablecoins tbf). I love Ethereum — it's a unique economic playground that's never been seen before — but let's be real: we've completely failed (so far) to bring the other 99% of the world into this thing. I know, I know, we keep working on it, but let's just admit it, please, and don't defend the meme tokens as mass adoption for gambling addicts.

I'll take the other side of that. We should be evangelizing by example. The 1% of us (likely way less) in the crypto space need to demonstrate how the technology adds value to our lives, and once we can do that effectively, the 99% will come over by themselves. We should stop dumping so much into trying to sell technology to people who don't want it, and focus on building things that we actually use. Mass adoption isn't something you can buy your way into. It's something that occurs naturally when the technology is ready. There is a balance of course, but I'm just really tired of people trying to build a "wallet for Grandma" or something, when we can't even figure out how to build safe wallets for technically sophisticated users.

adoption and innovation have been mostly blocked by gatekeepers now that they’re finally stepping aside, we’ll make the last decade of work worthwhile

I always thought the ‘mass’ in mass adoption was pretty silly. I want mainstream adoption. Where a technology is known and understood as part of mainstream society - available to those that need it. A fax machine wasn’t ‘mass’ used by every person, but it certainly was mainstream and used by those that needed it. I’ve been here since forever and I’ve witnessed nothing but an ever increasing *mainstream* adoption of crypto. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to realize it’s actually happening and it all came true.

A significant problem is VCs. Their money is poisoned. Non-zero-sum technologies do not make either a quick return short-term nor an extractive monopoly long-term so they drive projects into the ground in search of pump and dumps.

Putting emphasis on the trilemma and long term goals of Ethereum could help. I’d be worried if decentralization and security was sacrificed for scalability. Good things take time
