My son is growing up and this year he asked if the story of Passover is “real” — do we have proof any of it happened. What would be your answer?

That’s complex! Love it. I would probably say it’s a generational story that has been passed down, and like all stories, it’s more about what it has to teach us than whether it is “real” or not. 

But my answer here would probably depend a lot on what sect of Judaism you identify with and your son’s age!
