"A feature is trivial to copy. A network, on the other hand, is like a series of atoms that have bonded into a molecule. Not so easy to split." great quote from @eugene. features matter only inasmuch as they help build that graph and sustain interactions full piece: https://www.eugenewei.com/blog/2015/9/1/when-the-network-is-mature?__readwiseLocation=

contrarian AGI thesis: AGI does not immediately solve biological issues due to lack of knowledge. Instead it proposes a series of studies and experiments to acquire knowledge that might take decades to bear fruit. We get mired in political debates about which populations might be compelled to participate in these experiments, what ethical cautions to take, and so on. We aren’t bound by computational or technological limits, we’re bound be epistemic limits. How quickly will nature reveal her remaining secrets?

@sam Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka is either genius or nightmare fuel, but it’s intriguing either way.

Poetic that the LA Phil is doing Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique Symphony on Saturday. Tickets are scarce, doesn’t look like they’re canceling. Should be quite a moment.

Where it matters, The Marvels brings an electric chaos that's absent from so many blockbusters. Killers of the Flower Moon is a film about which you'll continue to think well after the credits roll. Barbie is actually one of the smartest films of the year, though don't let the pink coloration fool you. Spider-Verse's animation is innovative to the degree it borders on its own genre. To watch Oppenheimer is to suddenly come alive while reading a history book.
