As a kid, I was so excited about having a Transformers toy. The idea of a toy that could be both a robot and a car felt like a utopia back then.

Yes. And in my opinion, the toys became less fun as the vehicles got more exotic (futuristic) and it crazy colors. The fun of Transformers was the cleverness of a robot turning into a vehicle you saw in real lifeZ
