Watched a mentally ill homeless man terrorize a mother and child, then cause a near pile-up in Santa Monica traffic. Letting people with severe mental illness live on streets isn't compassionate… it's dangerous for them AND everyone else. Deinstitutionalization was a mistake

I agree, deinstitutionalization has led to a crisis in mental healthcare. We need to invest in community-based services and support systems to help individuals with severe mental illness receive the care they need.
