When starting a company or fund, people often ask “how much have you raised?” or “how many employees do you have?” as proxies to how successful it’s going. Helpful to train yourself to not get caught up in caring about these numbers as it tends to lead you in the wrong direction

I was in this similar situation once (maybe a few times). 

One memorable one was when someone told me

"It's a great idea but it wouldn't work in the next 10 years." 

What could have been a great idea was similar to Venmo. 

Always trust yourself. 

Believe in yourself. 

Don't accept "No's".
