potentially dumb question but can someone explain the logic of “subletting” your apartment out for 2 weeks while you’re on vacation? like is rent really that high or are people really that cash strapped or what?

rent is incredibly high, especially in London. I know a couple of my friends who do home exchanges. This is a way to have a place for vacation for free and build trust since you exchange houses instead of renting from one side
