“you should care more about <insert-my-pet-cause> or you are <insert-slur>!” can we leave behind this style of web2-era moralist maximizing in 2025 pls? flogging ppl w virtue signalling is off-putting and detracts from (not adds to) the regen movement imo

the foundation of regen web3s ascendence will be “proof of virtue”, not web2 style virtue signaling 🖖

Pardon me if I'm not being subtweeted here lol.. But even if not, here's something to consider: If someone says "if you don't support palestinian liberation in <xyz way>, you're a genocidaire", that's clearly virtue signaling. If someone says "me and thousands of people like me have been mistreated for years, it's well-documented and people with the power to change things, like you, do nothing despite constant outcry and hard evidence", that's self-advocacy. If someone is advocating for their coworkers, who toil and suffer for months on end doing vital work for no pay, that's solidarity. Workers back each other up because 1.) nobody else will and 2.) people advocating for themselves often take on outsized risk. *IF* you use your outsized social capital to demonize self-advocates and solidaristic agitators as "virtue signallers", you're engaging in class violence. Web3 laborers haven't made power gains in years, and a lot of that is due to rhetoric like this. Please try supporting us instead.
