got a garmin to try and after 2-weeks can confirm: 1. nothing beats apple watch when it comes to accuracy across hr and sleep (while compared to medical grade devices). 2. garmin better at gps and battery. 3. for weightlifting, just use a chest strap eg polar h10.

one thing i liked about garmin: they integrate with other devices so you can wear a external hr monitor and connect to your garmin

For running, polar is also more accurate. I've had issues with both Apple + Garmin and sweat.

i have had a fenix 5 for 3 years. A bit big and clunky but mostly happy with it and no strong desire to change or upgrade it

Solid breakdown. Apple Watch reigns for precision, but Garmin’s got that endurance edge!
