Regardless I continue to believe that making resolutions in the dead of winter is a dumb idea, and that the better time to push yourself to change is at the equinox.

oh strong disagree. you should make your biggest commitment in the darkest hour, and take your strength from the increasing light going forward

don’t have a strong opinion here atm but:

winter is an excellent time for reflection, and post-reflection is an excellent time for making changes. Seeing those changes through is very hard, but maybe there’s a way to separate the decision from the commitment? although I’m a little skeptical

commitment and action must be decoupled:
- the solstice is the darkest, good for reflection and intention as darkness recedes
- the equinox is when the light / warmth accelerates, better for action

pretty much agree, but i guess i see the intention as the first action

by the time the vernal equinox rolls around, the "warming" phase is half over
