Me too. I don’t much care about politics too, but it is wrong to think our politicians and political parties are not going to impact the future we have coming at us.

It’s really dangerous to take lifestyle cues from people significantly wealthier or poorer than yourself. Incentives vary sharply by economic class even if narratives superficially align. Owning guns and ranting about wokeism don’t put you in the same capital gains savings bracket. If you can save a billion in 2 years by moving tax jurisdiction you can afford to live location agnostic on a private jet anyway

Florida is basically a tax haven for the ultrawealthy that clueless ordinary people have bought into as some sort of political-cultural utopia. From my few visits it seemed like a shithole with few redeeming features. https://www.geekwire.com/2024/jeff-bezos-keeps-selling-amazon-stock-after-announcing-his-move-out-of-washington-state/

(Contd) These are unanswered (and admittedly not fully formed) questions. Yet a version of this future is approaching — this is not dystopia, but rather a reality we are heading into. For this future, every country, not just America, needs a different kind of leadership — technologically adept, adaptable and more willing to go beyond established ideologies. Happy Fourth of July everyone!

(I wrote this last night) On the eve of our Independence Day, I can’t help but think of our current political challenges. It doesn’t matter which side of the political aisle you walk. After all, the reality of our collective future doesn’t change, one way or the other. The challenges facing our society, economy and country don’t change with political affiliation. If not this decade, then soon there after, we will be heading into an unknown technological future. I’m not sure anyone knows if the current architecture of our social norms, rules and regulations is likely to survive a future where we humans have to coexist with what you can colloquially call aware machines. What happens when the core norms of current economic systems are eroded because fewer humans are needed for production? Is it time for a post-capitalist economic ideology?

CDPH wastewater reports are publicly available. We’re going into a COVID summer peak. “COVID is coming for Calif., and it's already hitting the Bay Area the hardest” https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/covid-california-san-francisco-wastewater-19509336.php

The serendipity is what makes my now hometown so special. In San Francisco, technologies, new ideas, and people collide randomly in the oddest of places, at the oddest of times. Much of this has to do with the density of techies. In a way, that in itself is a self-fulling destiny. During the pandemic, this randomness disappeared, making the place less vibrant than usual. For me, San Francisco will always be more than just a city. Despite our dysfunctional government and corrupt politics, I love being here. You run into new ideas simply by walking in the park. https://om.co/2024/06/26/a-poetic-ai-camera/
