why do we (society) obsess over and often hate tech billionaires but don’t bat an eye at music billionaires (taylor swift, jay Z), sports billionaires (magic johnson, lebron), or entertainment billionaires (george lucas, tyler perry)?

You have already gotten great replies and many of them are so good and so spot on. My 2c— and I wrote about this a few weeks back — the problem is that tech billionaires (or at least some of them) often wade into areas where they shouldn’t and have no expertise & come across as evil & selfish.

@ted the other thing is that we had the same great vibes for all the tech guys for a while - Mark, Elon & others were heroes and rightfully so. Since then they have increased their influence, have shown little or no empathy and in general have lost the image war.
