thought iād check out bluesky this morning. the whole timeline there is consumed by two moderation scandals and luigi photos x showing me RFK-promoted product ads and threadooors purple app talking about new rewards models and ai agent launchpads the ideological factions are readily apparent

You should try the feeds feature on BlueSky. It really changes your experience, and the curated feeds are very well made.

I think the fact that they have major media posting on BlueSky is a huge reason for stickyness. I can't find any news feed on Farcaster. I've had @djgoose casting regular football news in /ol , maybe I should do more.

totally. i think bluesky simply feels much more similar to twitter and therefore easier to grok there's no in-feed insanity, no sign up fee, no channels to understand like it is much closer to a clone and therefore easier to execute the Normie Hop

I am not saying Farcaster / Warpcast should become BlueSky like. But if a social product / network does not bring my at least 80% of the information I source from social networks, then I have to use another one on the side. It's bad for the user experience, and ultimately bad for retention. The $5 fee is not really what prevents NYT (or Cointelegraph if we stay crypto) to create a Farcaster account IMO.

š preach, I prefer Farcaster currently as the price wall seems to be a nice bot deterrent but when I need to open the cesspool that is X to gain some assemblance of the world it feels like something is still missing.
