Maybe global-south nations who will be most hit by climate change will start threatening to do this unilaterally; even if other techniques are ultimately better, perhaps they need the push to get to the finish line

"Climate change will make the earth inhospitable for human life" and "but we can't solve it THAT WAY!" are fundamentally incompatible notions.

If a patient has a cold, you give them tea and natural remedies. If a patient has cancer, you give them chemotherapy.

I agree with this and appreciate your sense of urgency on the climate crisis but I think we also have to address the causes (mostly giant corporations and militaries, not an easy task but necessary) and implement solutions we already know work like reforestation and ecological agriculture.
