Calling Ethereum decentralized is about user control. By running a node you prevent unauthorized use of your identity & money. If someone tries to steal your FID we all reject that tx. This level of security & user empowerment isn't possible on centralized blockchains where a cabal of supercomputers control the rules

I don’t either! This is a common (and understandable) misconception. You don’t need to stake to run an ethereum node. You can run a non-staking full node that just validates blocks as they’re proposed on a spare laptop or I bought a $500 intel nuc (a $200 raspberry pi would work too) plus $200 for 2TB of storage
