Private transactions are now >30% of all confirmed transactions. what are private transactions? like they're directly sent to a builder or something?

Exactly. So for example flashbots protect submits transactions directly to selected builders shielding them from frontrunning searchers. Builders share limited details to facilitate inclusion allowing only backrunning Users can also additionally opt into MEV Share, an integrated order flow auction, where the right to execute backrunning opportunities on your transaction is auctioned off and a portion of the MEV extracted is returned back to the user If you're interested I wrote about this in depth: paragraph.xyz/@chaskin/private-transactions-where-mev-and-the-public-mempool-go-to-die
