There has been quite a bit of backlash against this recent issuance change proposal by @caspar and me (and maybe rightfully so). I tried to clarify our intention in a likely way too long tweet over on X. Hope that adds some context. https://x.com/adietrichs/status/1775554454923747758

Was your change capping issuance (to reduce incentive to grow eth staked beyond a point) or actually a hard cap on the % that could be staked? I recall listening to your recent podcast but don’t recall your specific position

So part of the problem here is that we were not very clear - in a way it is both! - for the long-term staking endgame, we see a lot of issues with a high staking % and would prefer a mechanism that would effectively hard cap stake - for Electra, we proposed an issuance cap, to slow down inflow and give us more time.
