The client and protocol used to have the same name -- Farcaster. I think the client should have kept the name Farcaster and the protocol should have been named Warpcast. The Farcaster meme is just too strong (even back then) and is usually first touchpoint for new users (instead they have to learn about Warpcast).

Better that the protocol has the better name. It aligns with the values that protocol is stronger than individual apps. Not that this is an app which happens to share it’s protocol. WWW outlived mosaic, netscape, ie etc. People back then atleast grasped that in order to access the network you needed some browser.
