Yesterday I was disappointed that my friends’ 10 year old daughter was banned from using any AI to aid her in her projects. Apparently her teacher thinks it’s too easy to cheat with it, so it’s totally banned. So I was showing her how to use ChatGPT (with her parents permission ofc), making different photos together, showing her how I use it to make candle scents and measure items. Disappointing schools are not teaching kids how to use AI, feels like they’re failing them.

The most important thing they can learn at that age is critical thinking — it’s dying right now in schools. I get why —especially at that age— they need to ban it. They’ll learn it just fine on their own. But if they have to solve a problem when the power goes out, they are screwed.
