So let me preface this with "your coin; your rules" so this all certainly your call @betashop.eth re: /moxie but this seems a bit hasty. I've found that carrots tend to work better than sticks. So regarding this "we feel that $250 in rewards is a generous amount after which to require everyone to play in the system in order to continue earning," which on its face isn't unreasonable except some people have actually put in funds to support the experiment but are likely being swept up into this. No idea where I am in regards to rewards and haven't received this notice yet BUT I couldn't actually claim my airdrop when moxie first launched so I put in 1 eth of my own funds so that I could support the project and buy some fan tokens etc. (continued in replies)

continuing... EXCEPT I had to complete my claim in the frame to be able to that and because my airdrop was stuck, I couldn't. It took a while for me to finally dive into a pretty technical process to get my claim moved from the mainnet eth safe to my wallet so that I could actually claim and start to buy some fan tokens and support some of the creators on here. But honestly, I don't want to launch my own fan token. Just not something I want to do at this time. We may end up doing a channel one, but aren't ready to do this either yet. Being referred to as a "non-player" if I don't launch a fan token but have purchased and locked many plus put in 1 eth of my own funds feels bad tbh. And doesn't motivate me to want to actually launch a fan token -- quite the opposite. So maybe give this a think along with the feedback from others who have been buying fan tokens but don't want to launch their own -- there might be a better approach to reach the same goal of sustainability.

I’d think there’d be multiple ways to demonstrate being an “active player” - fan token, LP position, ownership, farboost, etc Then let it be “one or more” that triggers eligibility, not just “this one” Heck, have tiers - no involvement: $250 - some: $500 - more: $1000 - tons: uncapped

the way i see it is this.. "if you dont wanna share *some* of your rewards with your fans you are not worthy of getting them" i get your point that there are many ways of being active in the protocol and i agree 100%.. we also need to put ourselves into the team's shoes as all they are trying to do is to destroy farmers who only extract.. The thing that kinda bothers me is that some people have earned thousands of dollars in moxie rewards without really doing nothing.. why are they complaining..? (i dont mean you, ofc)

During the Moxie Community Call today, @betashop.eth acknowledged that some of the latest moves were a bit hasty. I completely understand not wanting to launch your own fan token, especially if you have not yet to this point. All that means is that you won’t be earning Moxie via your personal interactions. It sounds like you can still earn via holding fan tokens, which can be more significant than personal earnings. I’d also imagine that you can still earn via other ways such as the retro grants by contributing to the protocol. For example, I’d imagine that you were eligible for Retro 1 (even if you didn’t apply) because of your contributions to sharing about the protocol via your early interview with @betashop.eth and other discussions you’ve had about Moxie on /gmfarcaster. Retro grant 2 starts now and ends Jan 5th. I believe the team is trying their best to make sure that the rewards are ending up in the pockets of those that who are contributing to the protocol growing.

i’ll be a little more blunt. i couldn’t be more bearish moxie. this is just one of several cascading moves that don’t appear to be in alignment with the stated goals, and quite frankly, goes against the crypto ethos of individual autonomy. making impromptu willy nilly changes after people just locked up tokens for months (and in cases like yours, spent significant amounts of money) in a show of support feels … what’s the word … icky. and +1 the comms are giving defensive iron fist.
