yeah so we did a twitter spaces with our foundation lawyer to talk through the legal context and risks involved but we’re not going to be able to get a "this is good to go" type of legal opinion in writing. it isn’t due to us not asking but more so really the reality of the current regulatory environment

what i’m trying to say is that just bc they point to the same end state doesn’t mean that they are redundant. half of the eips if you look them up are like just different cuts of the same roadmap. ppl argue about them (rightfully) bc it embeds views about what’s minimally viable, fears about follow through, etc

yeah totally. enough discussion for ppl to understand why something might be worthwhile and for concerns to be raised and considered but then just being specific about an implementation and actually getting something out that ppl can adopt if they want seems like a good path in many governance conundrums

like we didn’t vote on the community adopting farcaster either. enough ppl were motivated to try and give it a real shot and nudged their nouns friends to try and it turns out ppl liked it

they aren’t the same tho. one wants gov voting and fractional art from day one and one doesn’t think it’s a day one item. if this was ethereum these two props are definitely different enough to be two different eips.

but maybe decentralized things are hard to align. you could never get all bitcoiners to align on what bitcoin should be. but some ppl that think it should be used as money more work on lightning and that’s a thing that moves forward by the ppl that care about that. over time more alignment emerges not all upfront

this is one of the reflections i have after trying to build consensus around $nouns for the past few weeks / months it’s just very hard which made me wonder what things you really need dao consensus for. if you need funding or you need the dao to deploy then ofc but maybe $nouns could get started without?
