ah ok. so just don't lose your recovery or your custody, and if your recovery is hacked you're in big trouble but really no different from general crypto assumptions

Yep. For most new users, Warpcast will set the recovery to an address we control. So for most users this will be like password reset. Advanced users can either 1) change the recovery address to something they control in settings or 2) sign up with a different non-Warpcast method.
