Balaji backing out of the $1M BTC bet is sad. He could have avoided the issue if he didn’t publicly say “I don’t expect BTC to hit $1M, I’m just trying to get people to buy [the thing I have 90% of my next worth in]”.

Per Medlock: - money not deposited in escrow - “lawyers looking into it” As someone who is a lawyer and has hired lots of lawyers, that second bit means “my lawyers heard what I did without asking their advice and they just called to yell at me for an hour”.
