Balaji backing out of the $1M BTC bet is sad. He could have avoided the issue if he didn’t publicly say “I don’t expect BTC to hit $1M, I’m just trying to get people to buy [the thing I have 90% of my next worth in]”.

A few quick rules on this: 1. Do not attempt to manipulate a regulated market. 2. If you do attempt to manipulate a regulated market, don’t go on a podcast and say “I am manipulating this regulated market”. 3. See Rule #1.
