Exactly this. I mean it’s a book that reduces friendship and connection to strategic moves

I personally haven't read it, but almost ALL the people in my life who have read it used the recommendations as a way to deceive others into believing they are friendly and gregarious, while actually being reserved and closed up. 

Is it about being loved for not being yourself?
