Do you find math notation to be 1 alienating, foreign and unnecessary 2 can make sense of it if needed 3 quickly understandable and unambiguous 4 a beautiful and preferable way to consume math ideas

2, but with a caveat: it takes considerable mental effort for me to make sense of it. So if the notation is part of a larger article and I'm mostly interested in the ideas (which is usually the case), I skip over it and concentrate on the words.

It's much the same with code. I finished a web dev bootcamp a long time ago, so I could make sense of some of it if necessary, but I rarely have the need to do so. Words are my preferred medium by far.
