interviewed 9 patreon creators last week. one of the questions i asked was "whats your feeling toward crypto?" all 9 had either neutral or positive responses. all were curious, and not put off by hypersub using nfts for membership

beginning to wonder if people don't view us as harshly as we view ourselves

This is fascinating and not misaligned with my experience. 

People who *need* to make money are quite open to any tools to do so.

when i worked with creators had the same feedback. they need better monetization options and are keen to get into new stuff

You guys rock man. Legit have zero complaints about your platform, just wish more realized how good it is. Don’t be too hard on yourself!

i'd try to get a sense for them on the openness to new experiences spectrum by throwing a totally unrelated question in there

my hypothesis is that a lot of these are personality dependent 
but so are things like being an indie creator on patreon
so i think incorporating personality and temperament in targeting is underrated. especially for stuff like frontier technology where there's a clear metric and indicators

@kia made a similar point. yeah, i think patreon (and other creator platforms) are definitely a filter. still surprised tbh. my current mental model is that basically *everyone* outside of crypto thinks its a scam casino. probably too pessimistic

Wonder if patreon is an interesting filter…already trying to make money, know it’s hard, patreon limitations…open minded. 🤷‍♂️

Former Patreon creator here. My dissatisfaction with the available options (Patreon and Substack, in my case) definitely played a big part in sparking my interest in getting deeper into crypto.

We talked about this w @patxol.eth, to me, this value proposition is 10x what discord never came to be for (non gaming) brands. 

I see it as a 

- walled gardened
- web & native view 
- with programmatic read/write access tiers 
- Embeddable inside the brand ecosystem (fonts, colors, domain etc)  

 10x better than : 
 discord / Instagram page / Reddit subs / telegram channel / Newsletter / Substack
