Today was a holiday, but it was a strange day. The power went out all over the country. It's never happened before. In my city, we were without power for six hours, so I took advantage and went to see some boats leaving the port.

I grew up in Papua New Guinea, had multiple day power outages at various points through the 11 years I lived there. We were slightly less reliant on it than we are these days now though... Main concern was food going off in the fridge.

Our houses had gas bottles for cooking but yes, Europe relies on electricity for a lot more than I did growing up!
