No meaningful contact with the hoi palloi; Out of touch

Also part of the problem: a lot of those people got to where they are because of old school connections

They used to work with someone, they went to school with someone, they were friends of a friend, etc. 

So a lot of them were never even in touch in the first place, they just think they are because of their title
