we are trending toward a world where the people who make decisions create a layer between them and you of people whose job it is to tell you there's nothing they can do and be punching bags it's increasingly harder to speak to a human or be treated like a human scale is killing humanity

opportunity for another business model! but unfortunately also, "stop being poor". My pet peeve is all the almost-OAP employed helpers to help people navigate the automated machines in Britain...noticed this in higher end high-touch shops like Waitrose, and quasi-gov like Royal Mail. Feels like giving up. WDYT?

your last paragraph is so british that i don't totally understand its meaning. not familiar with waitrose or royal mail. what is "OAP"?

OAP is an old age pensioner, someone who gets government money because they are old enough/too old, depending on your perspective. American analogy would be Walmart greeters, but not quite the same either. UK: m bossy uncles/aunties. US: white-haired grandparents and self-sufficient mentally impaired adults
