Very unpopular opinion: I don't celebrate anyone being thrown into the US's for-profit, inhumane prison system, no matter the crime. I welcome them being off the streets, but any human being put in the US prison system is a travesty

In the US, the majority of prisons are run by private companies contracted by the government. They frequently provide subpar healthcare, facilities, staff, and care that lead to the deaths of inmates. The people who profit have the ears of congress and have an interest in imprisoning as many people as possible

right?!

The best description I've heard recently was someone saying "The US is an experiment"

With each passing bit of odious congress-enabled business I keep thinking America needs to figure out a different system of government after all because this makes no sense.
