Hi everyone, I’m not sure if anyone has played with Stadium Sports League before, but there’s a petition circulating because they are enacting a policy that excludes non-binary and genderqueer players from their women’s leagues. If you’ve played with them or are a member of the Toronto community, I strongly encourage you to sign the petition. I’ve played against this team before*, and they are one of the kindest teams in the league. i think it's a combo of a couple things: 1. their fear for me because it is risky, so this translates in a lack of motivation on their end 2. jealously and wishing they had the courage to do this themselves 3. a lack of understanding of why i am so passionate about this. it's serious to me, but not to them

Following up on my own cast, but for context: the session was for Women Entrepreneurs Day. It was for networking + VC's reverse pitching their funds to us. One thing I noticed is that I was one of the few WOC in the room (lol of course). It's interesting because there's all these talks and articles online about how women only get 3% of VC funding. But I would like to know is... what kind of women? Because if I'm going off of the demographics in the room... women like me, aka WOC, aren't getting much and/any VC funding at a substantial level because we aren't even in the room to begin with. Love recognizing another huddle to climb /s 🙃

It was at NEXT Canada for Women Entrepreneurs Day. The session was mostly networking, but with some VC's talking about funds available in Canada. It was great, but could have been a tad longer (but maybe i enjoyed it too much and just wanted to keep talking)
