the feeling of knowing what needs to be done but you can’t bring yourself to start is crushing. i was told i was lazy and stubborn for as long as i can remember, until i learned what it really was ~2 years ago. all that self loathing bc i couldn’t be like the other people around me who could just..get things done. i wish i was kinder to my younger self.

sometimes it is not that starting is tough, but that the goal is not interesting and sometimes what is easier is our routine, trying something new is very tough last week i went for week travel after 3 years, it was tough mentally, but i said it would be a good try and it was actually quite fun now i am thinking of travelling often multiple things at once, so it is even more difficult to understand why https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Path_of_least_resistance

idek if i have a routine. i’ve tried habit stacking since last year, it helps until i have one bad day and i fall off. most days i’m floating like a blob taking on one hour at a time. new things are very tough to introduce but then sometimes i surprise myself by jumping into things very spontaneously and be like see that wasn’t that difficult, you can do this, and other things too. it feels nice. rare occurrence but when it happens i take the w. glad you took time off and traveled 💙 even happier to hear that you enjoyed it and want to do more of it. tathaastu, may you get to go more often.

i don't think most habits really stick for long habits by themselves are tough, but say there is a strong why again, i am not trying to motivate, just writing so i can see what i am really feeling i wanted to really defeat my friend in chess, so i practiced everyday it didn't matter i lost 10 or 20. i wanted to win, win in such a way that he knows he'll never defeat me + *some other reasons* so i practiced the entire year, everyday

having a why is a big motivator yes but a lot of times even that isn’t enough:( my why to stop consuming sugar the way i was for the past few years, was to get healthier and stop abusing my body. it wasn’t enough until it was, and a switch flipped in my brain last december. the damn thing works in mysterious ways 😭
