does stoicism appeal to you as a woman? i often see men posting about it or engaging with it more than women, but have never taken the time (yet) to reflect on why that may be.

When I’m stoic I’m called cold, emotionless, or get accused of having testing bitch face. The same way confidence and leadership can be seen as being bossy. Hate this shit.

I’m stoic AF. I just feel like I get shit for it. But I get shit for every thing. Because I like fall and pumpkin spice lattes and ugh boots I’m also a basic bitch. Can’t win so just do what I like and give zero shits what anyone thinks, but that comes off as arrogant instead of confident ;)

Stoicism is a philosophy, it has nothing to do with your demeanor

That’s not how it’s interpreted for women. When I act in a stoic way and embrace resilience and focusing on what I can control I’m seen as cold and uncaring when really I accept what I cannot change and move forward. It gets applied to women differently and we are chastised in society for embracing that philosophy.
