I must confess that I have never really tried rum. I'm more into whisky and wine.

Beauty matters - Wannabe Polymath. Interested in art, music, history, philosophy and faith.

I went the opposite way: loved rhum first, only got into whisky recently—and turns out I prefer the very peated ones. Not what they say newbies usually go for.

Maybe starting with rhum helped me get it faster? I bet it works in reverse too.

Just skip the sweet rhums and go straight to the dry stuff—like the ones I listed in my cast.
