Subway thoughts: How can I be mere inches from another person’s face and never speak a word. I can analyze the blemishes on this person’s skin but not their thoughts. The blank stares throughout this hollow tunnel are haunting. How is it possible this is what a society so driven by connection has become in such a populated place? I drank too much at lunch. NY is a weird city man.

I don’t know about subway. And was before my time. 2005 (when I started riding metra Chicago.) Stories of book clubs. Bar cars. Good times and friends along the commute. Screens really killed a lot.
