Yes, but most everyone competing with Ethereum differentiates themselves with some angle that compromises the pure vision. 

I believe you eventually get what you're asking for, and Ethereum is consistently asking to be the world computer.

The use cases and market dictate who you're competing against not the ideology and values.

Even if you're the only EV car maker you're competing against all other car makers until the market for EV car market grows to the point where other EV car makers show up, maybe then you're just competing against EV car makers.

And it’s exactly why Ethereum’s L2 strategy makes sense. It’s not trying to do everything on L1. It’s setting the base layer as credibly neutral and resilient, while letting the layers above compete and innovate freely
