Farcaster should implement a standard for combining threads into longcasts BECAUSE quality ideas expressed in text often take more than 280 characters. X allows long posts, and they are EXCELLENT. Why should I need a blog or a newsletter to communicate longer ideas in text. One network, unlimited expression.

i like linking out to a long form platform. long posts on x are only necessary bc external linking is punished with deboosting (long tweet reading experience is not great.) also casts can disappear if storage limit is hit so if i'm writing an essay, i prefer it to be archived more permanently somewhere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're right about longtweets being boosted bc external links are punished, but I do not like linking out to anywhere nor see a good reason for it. Farcaster's twitter envy arbitrarily constrains this unicode publishing protocol to short form. I should not have to use a centralized platform to share longer strings.

what about using decentralized platforms like mirror for long form? (decentralized being defined as content stored in arweave and accessible without mirror itself.) one of my fav things rn is how @gallery handles mirror nft articles. maybe wc can do something like that & then you would have long form display in the tl

If you approach it from first principles, I just don’t see any good reason why I should need to engage with a separate data or identity platform to share longer text with my same graph

i guess i just see fc more as an ephemeral messaging thing with the storage allowance (i guess u could buy more to keep all your writing here but seems clunky.) lots of comparisons to twitter and reddit but i'd say it has some shades of snapchat in it too and i wouldn't go to snapchat to archive long form content
