I love that part about finding self starters. That makes a lot of sense. I love the idea of building companies with aligned mission therefore motivation and initiative are inevitable.

Working in international teams is the best! Timezone challenges are offset by understanding the world and the many vibrant cultures so much more.  

When hiring for international teams focus mostly on the attitude needed. You can't support or manage people as closely, so find people that are self starters and driven
