My favorite fermi paradox solution was encryption. Good encryption would be indistinguishable from background noise. Good evidence that we’re alone in our region of the galaxy is compton scattering and other relativistic effects: as you approach light speed travel, you’ll start generating a wake of light as the cosmic microwave background radiation gains energy relative to your velocity.

Another thing not covered: nearly all human technology required magnetite, iceland spar, and wood. If any of those 3 were not present on earth in great quantities we would lack the tools, precision, and energy to industrialize. Particularly magnetite, can’t produce magnets and electricity without it. Intelligent life isn’t enough, there needs to be specific resources to advance. Life is most likely a thermodynamic certainty. Check out the metabolism first hypothesis of the origin of life.
