highly anecdotal, but one thing that stood out to me while in the US this summer was the number of phones with ESPN & X on them any time i was able to see a person's phone/unlocked home screen (mainly dudes), i'd most frequently see/recognize these two apps was reminded of this while thinking about just how many people on X are lurkers/passive vs actually creating content outside of likes & reposts

pretty sure passive users who simply use & browse an app like X can still be considered "engaged" and are highly useful from a business standpoint as they represent distribution i guess my point was more, for how much people complain about how we need content creation here on WC, the truth is that even on Web 2.0 social media, most people are passive consumers anyways
