There’s a fundamental tension between hardcore speculators and players who care purely about gameplay. Appeasing one side risks alienating the other, raising the question: does making these games crypto-based even make sense? You could still build a revenue model without crypto, allowing players to trade an in-game currency. The only aspect that truly benefits from crypto is an open smart contract, though that comes with its own dramas. The crypto label itself is a barrier, I wouldn't have joined if a friend hadn’t gifted me my $FIRE and a Farcaster account. The middle ground between speculators and pure gamers might not be appealing enough to sustain either. I saw how the community's engagement was tied to token price and rewards. I joined during an upswing, unaware that much of the activity was fueled by speculation. When prices dropped, engagement fell, and the vibe soured, new players likely found complaints about rewards just discouraging. Balancing both sides is an incredibly difficult challenge.

I'm not very good at listening to English, but I can sort of imagine what it's about from the look on your face. 😂

i would have to agree with your points and i find it extremely difficult to balance the interests of two sets of people that want fundamentally different things properly. i would just say that i'm enjoying the game a lot (in the sense that i would still play it if it didn't had any crypto element onto it) but i'm worried that eventually it'll become pay to play. i don't want this to sound bearish not to cry bc i'm not getting enough rewards, when i see the charts and see people with rewards to an eth i think it'll be obviously nice but if i saw my rewards balancing the money i put in (even a bit less) i'd be more than happy maybe i'm thinking small but those are my thoughts, imma go keep stoking :)

this was a great video man! really good point about making sure you're building products for the right users you have to know your audience to build something great, and I think you're asking all of the right questions and looking for answers in all of the right places

Redefine your audience. Fine tune and target somewhere between crypto bros on one end of the spectrum and gamers on the other. The majority of projects flowing through farcaster are indeed disposable, i can only imagine that the devs behind them are in for a money grab or perhaps just to flex their skills at building. Stoke fire is engaging enough and has plenty of opportunity as long as $fire doesn’t shoot through the roof and make the game unplayable.
