We do a team “health check” every quarter, where we ask questions like “the work I’m doing is valuable”, “I feel connected to my coworkers”, “I’m compensated fairly”, etc. We’ve found that overall health peaks during onsites, and diminishes over time until the next onsite, where it peaks again.

I believe it. Effective work can be done remote. I’ve still found the best team and culture building happens in person. You really sort of ride the waves of in person bonding/good will. Even planning things like virtual socials, etc. just no substitute.
