I think you were absolutely right to clean things up, no doubt about it. I didn’t even know it was possible to manipulate tipping for personal gain using accounts like MacDegen or others.
Here’s my point of view on tipping: if someone tips me, I continue interacting with them to thank them. As a result, they appear more on my timeline, I see their work, and they get more visibility. If, for example, they’re an artist or a creator, I’m naturally more likely to tip them back. I’m not going to spend hours scrolling through my timeline trying to figure out who deserves a tip or not.
That’s why I tip in return—not just because they engage with my content, but because if they appreciate my work, chances are I’ll also connect with their art, their creations, or what they share. We likely have common interests. 1 reply
