What if the next phase of agents isn’t agents that can use APIs or software better, but actually agents talking to agents in natural language, getting things done just like people would.

Don't think it's a what if but a when and which use cases will be the first to go that route. I think scheduling could be a good first use case.

100% the immediate use case I see is helping people with disabilities “sense-make” their way around the world. agents that can give people their autonomy back
