Cool to see more social + micropayments experiments. I feel like micropayments are the most understandable and underutilized use case for crypto - something that’s nearly impossible to build with Web2 payment rails right now. For example, you want to build commitment app with money stakes. Most builders default to Stripe, but with Stripe, you're not just paying a 2-3 % fee, you also pay a fixed fee per transaction (around ~$0.30). Now imagine: - 5 users stake $5 - 1 fails the commitment - You now split that $5 among the 4 Suddenly, you're sending ~$1 to 4 people, and each one costs you at least ~$0.30. Seems like even the crypto haters can understand a use case like this and answer the question "why do we need a blockchain here"

Well said! Ironically, people have been talking about micropayments forever but its only just become possible in the last couple of years. You cant just send a penny on Ethereum L1 - you'd get burned on fees. Base and Optimism have done a great job solving this

True! But as you mentioned, it’s been around for a couple of years already, yet it’s still far from mainstream. I’m wondering what pieces are missing and what’s blocking app builders from adopting it
