Not directly internet related but very much culture (which these days is largely shaped digitally so I figured it still fits). 

I also think norms would be a powerful thing to shape the internet - but then again, we're up against the big behemoths who like to max-extract attention.

That's how I feel. I don't want to self promote, it feels cringe and opposed to my idea that everyone is worthy why should we need to prove it to an algorithm? 😂

Great article, it reminds me that this need for an existing audience to even have a shot at publishing works completely unrelated to the ability of building an audience and marketing was referred to as content capital by Kyle Chayka in filterworld.

I think that was a good term for it...like all capital aggregating it is a pain and never ending.
