J. Crew comes up often, with one user grumbling that a $125-plus cashmere sweater βjust got a hole in it after one single year of use.β Buyers on YouTube lament the deteriorating craftsmanship in luxury brands too, hoisting up $1,000 bags that come up short. One study found that recently made designer jeans were less durable than a new pair from Walmart. Itβs starting to feel like quality has become price and label agnostic. Itβs called capitalism. It keeps trying to squeeze extra money even when the existing product is perfect.

Omg I found some great handmade pieces the other day and Iβm too poor to afford them. So I just bought 6 garbage pieces. (Second line was a joke I just wear the same shit over and over)

When your customers are shareholders and investors and their demands are to cut costs, your product is doomed. Buying quality, wearing them longer, giving your money to quality companies trying to make a difference and buying secondhand all help, but that's not how the majority of people shop.

jennifer wang rocks, but yeah, i resonate so hard with this. even accessories are not faring better. i feel like jewellery just got exponentially crappier in the last five years and i'm not sure why.
